Join Us On the Front Line: Represent an Atlantan Wrongfully Evicted During COVID-19 Crisis
Through this project, you'll defend an Atlanta tenant from a wrongful eviction, helping promote housing and financial stability for a low-income client.

Background & Context
COVID-19 has woefully exacerbated the housing crisis in Atlanta. While eviction court was closed, over a thousand eviction filings in Fulton County have piled up to be seen by a judge. Many landlords, who are also panicking, have resorted to illegal tactics to oust families from their homes in a time of mass crisis. Join us on the front line, preventing low-income families from losing their housing in a critical moment in our city's - and our nation's - history.
Immediate Problem
Through this project, you'll be working with our Eviction Defense Program to keep a client from losing their home.
Work & Deliverables
With close guidance from our staff, you will prep an eviction case, negotiate on the tenant's behalf, and possibly attend court with the tenant and defend against the eviction.
Preparation Phase
- Attend or view an online training
- Review written informational materials
- Review case pitch sent to you by our staff
Collaboration Phase
- Prep the case (contact client, review client's documents, perform relevant research)
- Contact opposing party and attempt negotiations
- If negotiations are unsuccessful, attend hearing
