Lawyers possess unique skills to help nonprofits and the people they serve navigate this time of unprecedented need, suffering, and uncertainty. Whether it’s helping nonprofits adapt and respond to COVID-19, seek federal relief, or continue protecting our democracy and vulnerable communities, lawyers have an essential role to play during this pandemic.
In a time of unprecedented need, We The Action lawyers rose to the occasion. Our lawyers have responded to many of COVID-19’s devastating threats, including by promoting safe, free, and fair elections, Supporting efforts to supply medical professionals PPE, counseling dozens of organizations seeking federal relief, and protecting vulnerable populations, including detained immigrants and survivors of sexual assault.
As nonprofits struggled to maintain operations due to the pandemic, we established a COVID-19 Nonprofit Relief Task Force to help over 50 organizations seeking relief under the Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program. The Task Force, which We The Action organized in a matter of days, was staffed by 80+ volunteer lawyers on standby to provide advice and guidance when time was of the essence.
