Management Leadership for Tomorrow
SBA PPP loan assistance
Most college graduates of color don’t land career path jobs. COVID will exacerbate the problem. MLT is seeking funding to ensure its fellows achieve the economic mobility expected of a college degree.
Posted April 21, 2020
Background & Context
Given the COVID crisis, MLT is assessing the potential economic fallout and concerned about potential revenue challenges. We have been pursuing multiple routes with SBA lenders, so far unsuccessfully, and are seeking guidance/insight on how to obtain a loan/grant. The funding will allow us to continue our work unabated.
Immediate Problem
We are managing carefully and hoping not to have to make material budget cuts. The funding would provide necessary relief so that we can focus on delivering outcomes for our fellows.
Work & Deliverables
We are looking for guidance/insight and potentially connections that will enable us to secure funding. We understand that companies that have more robust support (powerful lawyers & accountants) are securing funding while others are left behind.
Preparation Phase
Collaboration Phase
- Review what has already been done by MLT
- Assess what other orgs are doing that has been successful
- Provide recommendations to MLT
Wrap Up
- Ideally, assess what MLT needs to demonstrate to convert loan to grant within the specified period
Management Leadership for Tomorrow
MLT equips and emboldens high-achieving women and men from underrepresented communities – African American, Latino/a and Native American – to realize their full potential, to make a mark and make a difference. We are specifically focused on ensuring that college students effectively navigate college to land college-degree jobs and achieve the lasting economic mobility expected from a college degree, which is still out of reach for too many college graduates of color.
