Bilingual Volunteers Needed for Voter Hotline (1-888-API-VOTE)
Volunteers are needed to assist voters, especially those with specific Asian language needs. Your role is also important to detect voter suppression or disinformation that may be out there.

Background & Context
In order to fully participate in our democracy, Asian Americans must exercise the right to vote in local, state, and national elections. Unfortunately, racial discrimination in voting still exists. We work to eliminate discriminatory barriers to voting and to increase access to the ballot for all voters.
Advancing Justice | AAJC and APIA Vote run a hotline where voters can get answers to their questions about voting and receive assistance in nine Asian languages. Call 1-888-API-VOTE or 1-888-274-8683 for assistance. Assistance is available in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Urdu, Hindi, and Bengali.
WHEN: Monday, October 19 to Wednesday, November 4
VOLUNTEER SHIFTS: Four hour shifts are available on weekdays from 9 AM to 12 Midnight ET. On weekends, shifts are available 9 AM to 6 PM ET. You will be able to select your shifts after you volunteer for this project.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Computer and internet connection. When you log in, calls will be directed to you directly. During your shift you can continue to do other things but we ask that you make yourself available during your shift to answer any calls that come through.
Immediate Problem
The hotline will provide Asian American and Pacific Islander voters with answers to the questions they have around early voting options, where to vote, and more. Our organization works on voting rights and election protection, and we have community education resources available at https://advancingjustice-aajc.org/election2020.
Work & Deliverables
We need volunteers to help with the hotline in English and Asian languages. NO knowledge or experience in elections or voting is required. We will provide each volunteer with the necessary training.
