DALIT SOLIDARITY, A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE FISCAL SPONSORSHIP TO CHARITIES WHO ARE EITHER WITHOUT 501(C)(3) STATUS OR WHO ARE IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING
Posted October 5, 2020
Background & Context
This project is important not only to help other charities to continue their noble programs but also to earn a little revenue for my charity to continue our programs. It is a mutual help between the charities until they get their own 501(c)(3). As long as everything is legal and lawful, we are willing to do something that is beneficial for both. I need some guidance how to go about without risking our own tax-exempt status.
Immediate Problem
Our charity would be able to support other charities especially from India, Africa and South East Asia who are in need of fiscal sponsors to receive a grant from individuals and organization in the US. This is very important during this pandemic to provide relief and comfort to the victims.
Work & Deliverables
I would appreciate if a lawyer could help Dalit Solidarity to understand the Dos and Don'ts in reaching out to other charities in becoming their fiscal sponsors. We need some tips how to prepare the legal document as a contract to be shared with the beneficiary organizations.
Dalit Solidarity
Dalit Solidarity — a charity giving voice to the voiceless, established in 2000 to promote dignity, equality and justice for all Indians, regardless of one’s caste, race, gender and religion. Dalits (once called “Untouchables”) still remain marginalized, invisible and oppressed. But there is a key way to break the cycle of poverty and untouchability – through literacy and empowerment. Dalit Solidarity, Inc., has been uplifting the poor and marginalized for many years! Thank you, friends and families, for making this possible through your generous support to Dalit Solidarity. We are actively serving a population often forgotten and oppressed. We have been serving them with pride and joy for the last 20 years, and have promoted their wellbeing and development. Dalit Solidarity has worked steadily to provide India’s Dalits with the tools they need to make better lives for themselves and their families. Our continued work in the vital area of education, healthcare, empowerment and development relies increasingly on the generosity and support of individuals and organizations. Dalit Solidarity serves as a lifeline to those living at the fringes of society, encouraging and developing them.
