Safe Passage Project

Represent Immigrant Child in New York

Help an immigrant child gain legal status in the U.S. and protect them from deportation.

Posted January 16, 2020

Noe (17yo) from El Salvador, strong SIJS and asylum claims (Brooklyn, NY)

Noe lives with his aunt Teresa and cousin Walter in Brooklyn, NY, and attends high school. In El Salvador, Noe lived mostly with his grandmother; his mother spent time in the United States, but recently moved back to El Salvador. Noe fled to the United States because he was targeted by police officers in El Salvador, who beat him and interrogated Noe about “who he voted for” in the recent election while searching through his bookbag. Noe's father was murdered in 2018, apparently killed by corrupt police officers. Noe is eligible for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, on the basis of his father's death, and for asylum, based on his fear of the corrupt officers who threatened his life.
