Help craft clear explanations of abortion-related bills in Georgia
Educate and motivate Georgians in the fight for abortion rights in the state legislature.
Posted January 17, 2024
Background & Context
Georgia has restricted abortion access since Roe was overturned in 2022.
Immediate Problem
Bills are complex and nuanced, and it can be difficult for people to understand how this legislation came to be. We want Georgians who care about reproductive rights to actively engage with their legislators, but first we need to make it easy to "get up to speed".
Work & Deliverables
We're crafting infographics, webpages, and videos that break down current and past legislation impacting abortion rights and access.
You'll help find legislation from the past few years, and translate it into short, everyday language that anyone can grasp. We want to be factual, yet extremely concise and straightforward.
We will provide a examples of language that other states have used as a starting point.
Preparation Phase
- Intro call with volunteer coordinator
- Review of current legislative library and process
Collaboration Phase
- Find bills from past 8 years that relate to abortion rights and access
- Translate this legislation into short summaries
- Connect this legislation to similar bills in our library, when applicable
- Receive feedback and update if necessary
Wrap Up
- Share back the final descriptions
