Background & Context
Charlottesville and Richmond VA resettled over 800 Afghan parolees, many of whom fear future harm if they return to Afghanistan. Many have no path to legal residence other than asylum. This representation is non-adversarial and may be done remotely. This is not a call for representation in immigration court.
Immediate Problem
Filing affirmative asylum applications for Afghan parolees either with formal representation or with advice on pro se filings.
Work & Deliverables
Assist Afghan parolees complete a I-589 and personal statement for submission to local asylum field office.
