All Voting is Local
Serve as Wisconsin Local Voting Rights Advocate to Municipal Clerk
Assist local partners and clerks to support voters through improving election administration
Posted January 20, 2022
Background & Context
The Wisconsin Voting Rights Coalition is looking for volunteers that live in Wisconsin to meet and build positive relationships with their local municipal clerks. Municipal clerks play a critically important role in election administration -- including managing poll workers and making sure polling sites are accessible.
Immediate Problem
The coalition is looking for individuals within their communities to work directly with their own municipal clerks. This might include simply talking with your clerk on the phone, stopping by their office, or scheduling a time to meet.
Work & Deliverables
As a volunteer, you will:
- Meet with your local clerk and build a positive relationship
- Collect information on local election procedures
- Identify any areas where the clerk may need assistance
- Advocate for improvements in election procedure
- Report back to the Wisconsin Voting Rights Coalition with your findings
You don’t need to know the ins and outs of election law or how to run an election. The Wisconsin Voting Rights Coalition will provide you with training and support.
Volunteers will be matched with clerks based on location and need & are not guaranteed a match. We estimate the typical time commitment will be 3-4 hours per month over several months.
