State Voting Rights Analysis

From online voter registration to voter ID laws, election laws and policies disproportionately impact young people’s access to democracy, particularly young people of color. Election policy is confusing and often misleading–and varies widely by state–so we simplify it by identifying about a dozen policies and reporting how each state fares on those policies. Then, we present them in an easily digestible snapshot and categorize states as leaders, slackers, or blockers.

We need help updating these policies to make sure they reflect current state laws & policies. You can choose to review and update as many or as few states as you'd like, and we'll provide resources to point you the right direction.

We use this information in our civic education programming for young people, voting rights trainings, advocacy work, to raise awareness of voting rights via social media, and much more.

Vote-by-mail laws
